Scenario:
This task is about providing an examination of the current structure, scope as well as size of the hospitality industry. As a trainee consultant for a four- or five-stars hotel of your choice you are required to prepare an essay to be communicated to decision makers within the firm to be considered in their strategic planning for future growth of the hotel.
Tasks Activity
You are required to produce an essay to be communicated to decision makers within the firm that you have selected to be considered in their strategic planning for future growth of the hotel. The hotel can be a four- or five-star hotel of your choice.
Within the essay you are required to include the following:
Define the hospitality industry and explore the different hospitality sectors and their classifications such as accommodation; restaurants; pubs, bars and nightclubs; hospitality and food service providers; membership clubs and events, as well as highlighting their different types of products and services.
Based on the organisation selected examine their organisational structure including their operational departments, functional departments. Furthermore, for higher grading you are required to review the interrelationships between the departments included. Discuss how the hospitality industry contribute to the economy at the local, national and
international levels. Points to be discussed such as the economic value given as well as the direct and indirect impacts on the economy.
Provide an assessment of how the development of franchising and licencing agreements have influenced the global development of the hospitality industry. Provide analysis of how global growth, franchising and licensing developments have contributed to the economic growth of the hospitality industry.
Across the essay you are required to provide various examples to enhance the credibility, currency and depth of the answer.

Scenario
Based on the successful experience of developing the first task, for the second time you have been tasked as a trainee consultant for a four- or five-star hotel of your choice to prepare a report to be communicated to decision-makers within the firm to be considered in their planning for future growth of the hotel.
Task Activities
Based on the same hotel selected in the first task, you are required to prepare a report to be communicated to decision-makers within the firm to be considered in their planning for future growth of the hotel.
Within the report, you are required to include the following:
Part One
Based on the firm selected from the hospitality industry, you are required to investigate different operational roles and responsibilities such as operational, supervisory, front-line managers, and back-office managers. Highlighting their level such as skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled.
Provide examination for technical and practical skills required for specific job roles within the hospitality industry related to your selected firm such as customer handling skills, teamwork, and cultural awareness. Furthermore, you are required to examine current skills shortages in the hospitality industry in relation to the firm selected.

Review of the skills gap within the hospitality industry in relation to a range of different operational roles.
Analyses of the impact that skills gaps have on the firm selected as well as other firms in the hospitality industry and provide valid solutions for addressing these skills gaps.
Part Two
Provide assessment of the key political, economic, social, technological, legislative, and environmental factors that affect the development of your selected firm operating within the hospitality industry.
Undertake SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) for the selected firm within the hospitality industry and review how this can inform the decision-making process.
Based on the selected firm within the hospitality industry, you are required to evaluate the impacts of external factors on the development of organisations operating within the hospitality industry, using specific examples such as how hospitality organisations monitor and forecast external influences.
Provide critical evaluation on how external factors impact on current and potential trends and developments in the hospitality industry using specific examples to demonstrate how the industry has developed in response such as supply and demand.
Part Three
Based on the selected firm within the hospitality industry, appraise the implications of current and potential trends in the hospitality industry supported by different examples. Trends such as changes in customer lifestyle, sustainability and ethics, as well as the digital revolution.
Provide evaluation of the ability of the selected firm within the hospitality industry to develop products and services to meet current trends selected above supported by examples.
