BB4401 Business Information Analysis Brief

BB4401 Assignment Task

Write a user guide for users of Excel. The user guide must include the following guidance including an example in each case:

  • how to generate a frequency distribution using a pivot table and how it may be used to generate the modal value and how it may be used to estimate the mean
  • how to generate a relative frequency distribution using a pivot table and how it may be used to generate the mean
  • how to generate a cumulative frequency distribution using a pivot table and how it may be used to generate the median
  • how to generate a two way column percent frequency distribution using a pivot table and how it may be used to generate likelihood values
  • how to generate a histogram and use this to create a grouped frequency distribution, and how to estimate the mean using the grouped frequency distribution.

Finally for one of the numeric data sets you need to explain how to produce a boxplot and, using this, explain how to describe the shape of the distribution (left-skewed, symmetric or right-skewed) and whether the data has any outliers. You must illustrate this with an example.

You must use the data provided in the Excel file AssignmentData.xlsx.

You must submit the user guide in a single Word document using the digital dropbox on Canvas by 17.00 on Monday, 3 March 2025.

The user guide should be no longer than 1500 words in length (not including the pivot tables and any charts that are used).
