Speech 3 Assignment Description—Persuading an Audience to Action—120 Points Possible
- Length: 5-7 minutes
For the final speech of the semester you are asked to present a persuasive argument on the same topic as your informative speeches. This is your opportunity to argue in favor of something you feel passionate about. This will be an interesting and informative opportunity for the rest of the class to hear your opinion on the topic you have chosen. The main objectives of this speech are to clearly present your argument in a way that grabs the audience’s attention, informs the audience of the issue and describes why it is a problem, proposes a solution to this problem, invites the audience to imagine the solution put into practice, and finally, calls the audience to some form of action.
For this speech, you are asked to use the Monroe’s Motivated Sequence organizational pattern, which consists of five steps: attention, need, satisfaction, visualization, and action (we will go through this pattern in class).
Technical requirements for this speech:
- Speech must stay within 5-7 minutes
- You will turn in your Preparation outline to Brightspace by class time the day you speak.
