5N1390 Assessment Collection of Work

‘A portfolio or collection of work is a collection and/or selection of pieces of work produced by the learner over a period of time that demonstrates achievement of a range of learning outcomes. The collection may be self-generated or may be generated in response to a particular brief or tasks/activities devised by the assessor.’

Guidelines

A Collection of Work piece will be devised by each candidate which is based on an Organisational Profile (please nominate your organisation).

Please include all of the following:

Task 1: Organisation Profile (Word Count 1000 +/- 10%)

1. Provide a description of an organisation of your choice, including their Mission Statement, and outline the reasons for your decision.
2. Identify and provide an overview of the company’s organisational structure.
3. Include an organisational chart showing the relationships between the departments of the organisation to support your answer.
4. Provide a description of the departments and functions of the organisation.
5. Discuss the external factors influencing the organisation.

Task 2: Team Development and Effective Communication (Word Count 1000 +/- 10%)

1. Discuss the four stages of team development within an organisation
   (i) Forming,
   (ii) Storming,
   (iii) Norming,
   (iv) Performing.
2. Provide an overview of how an organisation can influence effective communication in the workplace.

Marking Scheme

Task 1: Organisation Profile

• Description of the organisation and Mission Statement  5 Marks 
• Type of organisational structure identified  5 Marks 
• Organisational chart showing relationships 5 Marks
• Department and functions clearly explained   5 Marks
• External factors influencing the organisation  5 Marks

Four stages of team development:

• Forming – 5 Marks 
• Storming – 5 Marks 
• Norming  – 5 Marks 
• Performing – 5 Marks 
• Effective communication in the workplace – 5 Marks 

Subtotal – 25 Marks

Total 50 Marks
